My hair's really thick and pretty much the same length as yours, but not nearly that curly. I usually just put several clips in it to make it look cute and keep it out of my face. Try it.
i usually straighten it (GHD, works a treat), but coming up to summer i want to be able to just leave it.. i LOVE how my hair looks when wet, messy curls and not boofy, but as it dries, it goes insanely boofy etc, i want to know if there are any products that i can use that will make my hair stay how it looks when its wet?! if that's possible!!!! without losing the curl (so i can swim and not worry etc!!)
hi, i have very curly and thick hair too and this is what works for me:
i wash my hair with any conditioning shampoo (change shampoo every month), then i put on any conditoner and leave it on for 15 min.
after rinsing, i use any hair serum that doesNOT contain alcohol, all serums are more or less the same, as long as they contain no alcohol,
i comb my hair and then when my hair is half dry i use products like dove deep replenishing hair cream, aveda elixir, Fructis definition and bounce cream and let it dry naturally

My hair is just like yours; if you're not swimming, use a leave-in conditioner that will keep the curls soft and looser. For swimming, it's hard to keep a product in your hair, but hair gels are the best for water.
Curlz Rock by tigi, or the cheaper version Noodle Head at Sally's beauty supply. Both will define the curl and hold it. You will also need a spray in leave in conditioner to go on before and some light -medium hair spray.
I have the same hair. Don't get it cut short because I now wake up looking like I have stuck a fork in a power socket!! Try sunsilk curl booster gel. It comes in a tube from any supermarket for around $6. I found it to be good because its not to heavy and sticky on your hair.
to give your hair a wet, beach look, while keeping your curls, make this oil mixture to run through your hair.
2 tablespoons coconut oil
2 tablespoons jojoba oil

I had a friend that had the same hair and it always looked great when she just put it up. It was a 'messy' look but it looked sexy and cool. Very natural. It looked better than when she spent hours trying to something else with it.
After I wash my hair I put a little bit of mousse to make the curls stay together but not to make it sticky or hard. When the hair dries out it turns out very natural with big healthy curls and thats my best do, leaving it loose and showing off my beautifull curls.
don't cut it as the shorter you go the thicker it will seem. my hair was past my butt and i had it cut to my shoulders and the weight of the length that used to keep an annoying wave at the back of my head flat now is very apparent and i dont like it and have to blow dry it straight. my hair has all pretty much gone wavy since the cut, not curly or straight just wavy. i would thing keeping it down looks best, try adding some crystal barretts or slides or something to dress it up. you can get frizz tamers that keep the frizz at bay while giving you glossy looking curls.

get a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. shampoo only the roots of your hair. do it every other day. condition every day, but let it soak for a few minutes and make sure you ring the water out before you put the conditioner in. use a deep conditioner (also called a hair mask) once a week. and if you blow dry your hair or style it with heat (straightner, curling iron, etc) make sure to put some sort of serum in to protect it first. your hair will get a little thicker because mine was thick and got thinner and i did that it grew back a little. as far as the length, some people just can't grow hair long. i can grow my hair long, but i use jessica simpson clip on hair extensions it saves so much time and hair damage, they're amazing!
as far as the girls hitting thing... it's a double standard. people think that because guys are usually stronger, they cant hit girls but girls can hit them. its stupid. no person has the right to lay a hand on any other person.

Hey. Well your hair is made of protein so if you dont have enough protein in your bady you hair can get thin and not very healthy looking. So try eating more fish and foods like that with lots of protien in them. If your hair is noticable thinner you can always ask your hairdresser to give you a new cut to make it less noticable. 1. Often if you treat your hair too often with intensive chemicals it tends to thin out, and cutting your hair often from a certain length creates a growth barrier that your hair can't get past and will never grow past (most likely)
2. Yes its weird that a guy can't slap a girl but its mostly because a girl is slapping him to tell him shes ticked off but guys slaps can hurt a lot more as girls tend to be much more fragile than the boys. Also in this day and age of abuse, guys hitting girls is seen as a big no-no.
to make is grow longs you should not straighten/curl is (if you do) because is damages it and usually i get my hair trimmed every like 6 or 7 weeks so it stays healthy and don't switch shampoos and conditioners a lot
im 15, and im trying to grow my hair too but its taking for ages, try to have it cut like every 6 weeks, it helps and helps it stay in good health, drink plenty of water thats always a good one, and dont straightern it , you should only straightern it once a week max, and if that doesnt work, ask your hairdresser,
and to your second question, i dont really no the answer to be honest but i hate violence and boys hitting girls is deffently wrong because there so much bigger, but in my school i have girls that just treat boys like rubbish and it annoys me so much, so i tend to be extra nice to them lol. but i dont think girls should hit boys either, coz they cant hit them back.

well you could have had a spike in your horomnes and now they went down so your hair is thinning and it could be nothing to worry about, thats what happened when women get pregnant their hair gets really thick and then when they have the baby the majority of it falls out because of the loss of hormones
I have this problem but I'm a 45 year old guy and its been gradual for the past 15-20 years. This doesn't sound normal for a 14 year old girl. You should go to the doctor.
i love my hair, but the day, and the day after i wash it its horrible.. really thick (even though ive had it thinned and layered at hairdressers) and frizzy. i have to leave it 3-4 days before it looks pretty much okay, but by then its starting to feel greasy ! ahh help
THAT IS SO ME!!! My hair is so frizzy and so thick that when in the past I tried to were it down I looked like a mountain Lion.Horrible!!! Then I found a new Hairdresser and he is great!He thin my hair out but didn't cut it in layers.Layers actually gives your hair more volume.And I bought a hair Iron and its my best friend.Make sure you get either the laser one or the ceramic one.Those are not so hard on your hair.Because I iron my hair everyday. I hate washing my hair because its a mission to dry it.So sometimes when I am in a hurry and its like the 2nd day or third day since I washed it, I put some baby powder in my hair.It takes the oil out a bit. Anyway I wash my hair with redken straightening shampoo and conditioner its really good for you hair also.And when I blow dry it I use one of those big round brushes. and then after that straighten it with the hair iron. I had bad hair days in the past I never wore my hair down and I never use to have time to make my hair look nice...Now its quick!

yea i have that same problem, it sucks. you can try john freida frizz ease products but it makes your hair feel heavy, so i get a relaxer every 3 months and it helps soooooo much. The kind I use is called Motions. good luck!

I think you need to find a better Hair Stylisy by the sounds of it.
You shoukd have regular Layers cut in, but then they should be able to take more thickness out, but slicing it.
You loose no length but it really works.
And as for the frizzyness, Tigi Products are the Best.
After party is fab, and once you have washed, dryed and straightened it, it will look FAB with this on it..

wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner and the after youre dne washing it withconditioner come it out while its wet and in a shower thenif you have a hair straighting iron use it and staighten it while it is wet but there is a special hair iron for staighting it wet
this sounds just like my hair!!! try a calming shampoo and conditioner like frizz ease by john frieda and use the full steps 1-5 which is quite expensive, but lasts and really works - you have 5 steps -
1 - shampoo
2 - conditioner
3 - gel for wet hair
4 - spray for wet hair
5 - spray for dry to hold in place
it takes about half an hour to do my hair from wet to dry, if i leave it curly, and about an hour if i straighten it but these products keep it under control
they do do cheaper versions of each of these, but don't always work as good - try a few and see what you think
i have thick frizzy long hair....my solution is by a hair straightener from walmart and straighten my hair after its dried on its own ---other wise i get bad splitends--i like vidal sassoon gold--its worked the best out of 4 other ones i tried...it costs about $20-25 i think.....
also you can try sauve mouse or another de-frizz cream in your hair right after a shower while your hair is wet --dont do it every time though or your hair will start to get greazy
John Frieda does a product called Moisture barrier- if you use the Frizz ease hair serum and the Moisture barrier hair spray you should notice the difference.
You're stripping too much natural oil out of your hair when you wash it. You might try switching to a gentler shampoo or a more moisturising conditioner. If you're happy with your current products, try Frizz-Ease serum or a leave-in conditioner.

Yeah. i hate when my hair gets frizzy. Try straightening your hair in the morning before you go out. It helps to control the fly aways and frizz. Also try special shampoo for your hair type that might help. John Freida works well with my hair! Hope that helps : D

Get a beautician to feather it back away from your face, it gives a softer look and makes your face less round.
Since you have permanent straight hair thats nice and thick, try some flowy waves or with your round face try out some lose bangs just in the middle

I have a round face myself and I have straight thin hair. What I like to do is have some side swept bangs, so when I tie my hair back I have something to cover my forehead and I have more style with the side bangs.

OK~coming from a hair stylist~you are lucky that things have changed over the year....There are many different techniques hair stylist can use now. You can have your how textured out so it wont look BIG when you go short(alot of thick hair has a tendency to do that). There are alot of different products now that you can use to also maintain a cool style.....There are those Cd's you can get and you take a picture of yourself download to your comp. and try diff. styles. I never liked them though always made me look lik i had some furry creature placed on top of my head.lol go online you may find a salon who offers this near you~~good luck..I know 15 is a impressionable age. Have fun and enjoy life and changes!!

most barber shops have posters of examples that you can pick from. your best bet is to go to a hair salon though. men cut hair well, but from a woman's point of view you'd feel better about what to choose. so i'd suggest going to a hair salon. they have picture books of models modeling haircuts. just ask the women at the ahir salon what they think.

Go to a salon...NOT a barber. And ask them to give you a cut with shears (scissors) and NOT clippers.
Online simulators don't take your own hair's texture and density in account, so they are useless in this case.
My suggestion is to ask for a texturized "messy on top" cut. Use a wax to style it piecy so that it looks modern. This look is good for very thick hair. If they texturize it, it will thin it out some and make it easier to work with. If the stylist seems clueless when you say to texturize it, tell them to point cut it.
Or...Look for some pictures of cuts online of what you might like and take them in to the salon with you.
um......i belive guys always look good in short hair but if you want you can go for the tom cruise style that he has earlier.....i think that is cute........or search for the tool online which enables you to have your pic set and get the hair style form their selection and set on your pic and see if it looks good........but it may coast you something i guess......
My son needs to get a haircut for a job. He has been wearing his hair in a ponytail for a long time because it is so thick and curly and he feels this is the only way to manage it. There has to be some way for him to cut it that will not be too hard to maintain? (This is what he is worried about.) Also he has several cowlicks that make his hair wild when short. Anyone else know of someone like this and what did you or they do? He is caucasion. Thanks.
My husband has a similar problem--not curly, but very unruly when short due to cowlicks. He also wore his back in a ponytail until he graduated from college. We experimented with several styles and stylists before we discovered one that works pretty well. First off, tell the stylist you have cowlicksand where they are located (if possible). My husband actually has a double cowlick where two cowlicks meet. Next, don't let them cut it too short on top. Your son will need the length to weigh down the cowlick. A cut where it's longer on top and shaved in the back will pass for clean cut. Check the men's magazines and find one where the top is longer and bring it in to show the stylist. My husband found a Dolce and Gabbana ad that he carries in his wallet. So far so good!

Tell him to watch MTV's new version of Making the Band. One of the white guys (Donnie) on the show has a sheek. The Gotti grandsons wear there hair in this style but they use way too much moose. It's a very nice looking hair cute. I thought of a great example. Joey from NSINC wears his hair in this style. If you watched dancing with the stars this past year he was a contestant.

I wash my hair with no frizz shampoo and conditioner from my salon ($25 for the set) every night two hours before i go to bed (don't sleep with it wet--it makes it more frizzy). In the morning i straighten it with a 100% ceramic straightener. My hair is 3 inches past my shoulders and it takes me 5-10 minutes and stays straight n frizzy free for the entire day.
I had the same problem when I was younger. Try using a frizz control product to help tame your hair. I was able to were mine down and it looked great. look in your local stores or beauty supply stores.
I have the same type hair as you ! What I love to do to give my hair a shiny , softer , wave texture is as follows.
*Detangle your hair before washing.
*Wash and condition with your usall products.
*Towel dry your hair.
* Now section your hair of into large chunks.Braid each chunk.
* Allow hair to dry in the braids ( overnight is great)
* Undo all braids and DO NOT USE A BRUSH OR COMB! FINGER COMB ONLY.
You are now ready to have you hair down.The texture should be softer and sleeker BUT still wavy! I like to make a side part and wear it loose. You could also try a low pony tail now because the hair will be smoother ( and smaller) . Headbands are in now ... so a head band would be great too. Use a little gel AFTER styling to finish off.
you could have you half hair done in clip or you could roll your hair half way and put an bull dog clip or hair stick to hold it,then take little hair food and style your fringes and overlap half hairover the bulldog clip to avoid it showing

k, i have the same problem but my hair is wavy. i used to straighten my hair everyday, but it took me about an hour and a half to do it, so i gave up. i don't know how well this will work, but i got a perm. so it's always, just curly. i do my hair in five minutes, but this is how i do it: i comb after the shower, then i spray in "Infusium 23" leave in treatment frizz control. it cost like 5 or 6 dollars a bottle, not too bad. then i put a little more than a quarter size puddle of gel in the palm of my hand and run the gel through my hair and scrunch it. i put it in a neat half pony-waterfall and hair spray everywhere. it may seem like a lot but when i'm in a hurry that's the easiest and fastest thing i can do! goodluck! i'm only 14 so i've diffinately been there before
I was wondering what is the best products out there for my type of hair; this includes mousse, hair spray, shampoos/conditioners, pomades, deep conditioners, serums and maybe more? First of all, I wanted you to know that I have the same hair type. I'm going to give you advice for only a few brands because it tends to get really confusing to try and buy lots of different brands. Also, most of these products work together so it's really best to go ahead and buy the same brand. Okay...Redken AllSoft shampoo and conditioner are great to start with. Also try the Redken AllSoft Heavy Cream (a deep conditioner). You can use this once a week after shampooing with the AllSoft shampoo. You will want to leave it in about 15 minutes and then rinse it out in cool water. After that, Redken Ringlet is a great product to let your hair air dry without leaving it sticky, stiff, and frizzy. If you decide to straighten your hair, try the Farouk Systems Chi Iron. I have used this iron almost every day for 5 years and it has not damaged my hair. You will want to get the Farouk Systems Silk Therapy and put it on your hair before you straighten your hair. The Silk Therapy has silk proteins in it to help reconstruct your hair and protect it from heat. It also helps get rid of frizz and you can put it in your hair if you want it to air dry. I don't suggest chemical straightening because when your hair grows out, the roots will be curly and you will have to flat iron it anyway to make your hair look right. Another thing you could try along with these products is going to a hairstylist and asking for a semi-permanent conditioning color like Redken Shades EQ. You can either get a color with this product or the stylist can put clear on your hair to make it shiny. This color will make your hair soft and help even out some of the frizzy texture. I always use this color in the fall and winter to moisturize and add shine to my hair after putting highlights in it during the summer. With these products I don't feel that you need mousse, hairspray, or pomade. You want your hair to feel soft, not crunchy or sticky. Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, you can email me. Tie up one of the big tails but leave one loose. Next, take the hair that is not tied and part in and tie up the top half. Spritz the area you have left down and immediatly and slowly straighten it. You may need to go over every piece about twice. When it is straightened spritz the section one more time and then take down your top section and do the same. Next, switch to the other side and do exactly what you did to the other side to the remaining side. The key to straightening your hair is to take it slowly and do small pieces. good luck!!!

what works for me is if you go to your local beauty store(ULTA) and buy frizz-eaze. put that in your hair. than put your hair half up half down with clips and starighten the bottom. then let go of the other clip and straighten the top. put a little shine spray and your good to go=)
My hair is fine, but thick and can be very annoying when trying to fix it to go to go somewhere. I use Regis products. You can find them at the salon's in the malls. There is one waiting just for you. When you go in there just ask one of the beauticians what would be a good product for your type of hair. A lot of times the ones you pick will be on sale. I like Bumble %26amp; Bumble's Leave In/Rinse Out Conditioner. Use it after a moisturizing shampoo. I would suggest leaving it in for more conditioning. Then, use some type of curly hair styling product, such as curl creme, gel, etc. Frizz-Ease is another good step, but if your other hair products have silicone or silk in them, that will usually do the trick. Check with a local salon for the best quality products. Also, make sure you start with a great hair cut.

That pic looks like a texturizer to me. It's a product you get from a beauty supply store. It slightly relaxes the curl in tightly curled hair (Black hair). It is permanent, so be careful and read the directions.
Go to a Beauty Supply Store they have many different hair products, I'm not "black" but I have friends that use wax in their hair, it stays stiff all night.

i have extremely thick hair and you can buy products anywhere. Mousse works very well for me! Bed head products have a lot for scrunching hair. After you scrunch your hair every 5 minutes keep grabbing your hair and lifting it up. It will help you hair fomr dropping over time.... try a little bit of volumized hairspray and go over your hair lightly....
Try braiding your hair while it's still wet and go to sleep like that. When you wake up take out the braids and you'll have wavy hair. I usually wear two tight pigtails and the waves last all day.
You can't make thick hair, it's just something you are born with, but the wavy part you could use a curling iorn not to big, not to small though. To small would make it more of a "Curly Sue" curl.

I think you should wash and deep condition for at least 15min. You can even sit under a dryer or put a plasticcap on and blow dry. Then rinse with warm water then immediately after that rinse with cold water. ( to seal your cuticle) then towel dry completely to get rid of access moisture. Then spray about 10 sprays of infusium 23 leave in treatment BEFORE BLOW DRYING. start in the back. Use a comb attachment ( makes it much easier). Then when hair is all dry get a CERAMIC flat iron and part each section horizontally about 1-1/12 inch thick. Then straighten each section which should be about 1/2 inch - 2 inch. go all the way to the front and your finished!
I have thick, wavy hair, too. Try sectioning your hair into 4 sections, then wrapping each section around your head and pinning it, then put a bandanna on to hold it in place. By the time your hair is dry (will take some time), it will be much straighter.
Another choice is to put straightening spray on your hair, and brush it to ensure it straightens out.

I have naturally curly hair as well. This is what I do when I want to have just a little wave to my hair. After washing my hair I use Finesse curl enhancing mousse (what I use all the time anyway) and then pull it back and put it in a clippy. I have very long hair so sometimes I have to put it in 2 clippys. It is dry by morning and you just let your hair down. I also use a shine enhancer once I let my hair down.

Extra large rollers will give you a nice wave.If your hair is prone to frizz,use some anti-frizz serum (like Frizz-Ease) before setting. When you remove rollers, don't brush....just rake fingers through hair,with a little more frizz serum, and Voila!

i tried dying my hair different colors before. all that comes out as a result is a really subtle hue/tint of color taht you can only see in direct sunlight. any ideas (advice, expertise) or suggestions (like on what brand to use) on how i can achieve a pretty deep burgundy/black cherry color?
The color you are wanting won't show up on hair as dark as yours unless you either use a 40 volume developer with the color you want or lighten your hair first and then put the red on top. My suggestion is to do a light weave with bleach and 20 volume developer, and then color your whole head with the red (use a demi-permanent). (the red won't show up on top of the black)
If you had problems dyeing your hair the only thing that I would advise you to do is to see a professional you do not want to damage your hair and I mean this from personal experiences.
you can try to dye it with a medium brown first then dye it with the burgundy. Im guessing that. Cause I dyed my hair a medium brown before. then about 6 months or so later, I wanted to dye my hair with an auburn color and it turns out to be a little bit reddish brown. idk if thats the same as burgundy/black cherry you're going for.
Instead of dying... have your hair cellophaned. Your hair will still need sunlight to see the color, but it stands out much more than just dying your black hair.
If you still want the color to stand out more. you can have streaks of bleach put on your hair and then cellophane the color back in.
hi piglet i think you should try streaks ie dye small portions of the hair in your desired colour. maintaining a dyed hair is simple. the trick is regular steaming and conditioning.
after shampooing the hair, you should apply CPR (motions)with you conditioner mixed together allow your hair to steam for 30 mins. under a shower cap or plastic bag. rinse. blot your hair dry with a towel and apply moisturiser(motions) and a hair polish while it is still damp and comb out using a big teeth comb. using a fine tooth rat tail comb blow dry your hair on the lowest setting to straighten out your hair. when you hair is dry apply scalp and hair dressing/grease.
try to use heated appliances as little as possible in your hair and use your hair polish daily.

ive sort of had an issue with my hair thats bugging me, I know i kind of asked this question on here before, but i think i left out the little factor of my hair being coarse. I want my hair to grow long, thin and less coarse as possible. But my hair is uber thick, coarse, and naturally curly (although I DO relax and straighten it, so it being curly isnt such a big deal) So basically I have the exact opposite hair that I want. Ive grown my hair out for a while now, and when I use conditioner and gell my hair looks long, but when i wash that all out and dry it, its like a big afro. Is there a diet I can try, or some type of way that can make my hair permanetly finer and less coarse? I really want long thin, finer hair. So I will do what I need to.

my hair is very much like yours. thick, coarse, and wavy. it happens i'm letting it grow too. i'm using a bandanna to keep it restrained until it gets long enough to tie up in a pony tail.

I know exactly what you are going through. I go through it every day. I found that Dove has some great products for curly hair, They have a friz serum, a friz cream, curl defining mouse and a gel for curly hair. I use all of them in my hair. It boosts my curls up without the frizz. And it doesn't feel heavy and weighed down. I use the Aussie brand extra moisturising shampoo and coniditioner too, that makes my hair soft and also helps with the puff ball. Good luck. and don't blow dry your hair, let it air dry and DON"T USE A STRIAGHTNER OFTEN!!! It can dry out your hair and cause damage.
On the cheap, the John Frieda (red, blonde or brunette) line is good..

hair straightner!!!! Use it, it helps ALOT. I have kinda the same issue. You could even not wash your hair for like 2-3 days after you straighten in and it should calm down.
if you have flyaways when you put your hair up try putting a smoothing pomade in your hand and using a makeup brush to put the pomade on and smoothe your flyaways down, if your hair is big and poofy dont blowdry, use leave in creme conditioner and if you like the wavy look you might want to try putting your hair in 2 big braids (one on each side of head either top %26amp; bottom or left %26amp; right personally i put my hair in one braid on top and one braid with the bottom hair) do this when your hair is wet, like after a shower and after applying a leave in creme conditioner, the reason your hair is probably big and poofy is because it is full of split ends, or dry and damaged. try to avoid washing your hair everyday for this will get rid of all of your natural oils that your hair needs to stay shiny and healthy. as far as hair products go i would recommend the new Sunsilk products, i think the blue bottle is for split ends and the pink is for dry damaged hair. they work absolutley wonderful.
if you don't wash it for a few days it helps minimize the poof and frizz.

Then this is the REAL key, use Bed Head Control freak serum! This stuff is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it!And lay around with the amounts...don't be afraid to use a lot. it is expensive but it works miracles!
I then sometimes use a dufusser on the end of a hair dryer if I want that realy styled look. other wise I let it air dry not messing with it once it strarts to dry! That is important!!! pet the control freak in it and leave it alone!!!!

I have the same kind of hair that you say you have (down to the haircut), so hopefully I can help. It's all in the products. Of course, I haven't actually seen your hair, so I can't guarentee anything. ;)
First - the only way I can get my hair to curl, and STAY that way, is by putting in a leave-in conditioner while my hair is still damp (but not soaking wet), scrunching, and then hairspraying it (in sections). Don't bother with curling irons. They'll just frizz you out even worse. I use the Garnier Fructis Sleek %26amp; Shine leave-in conditioner, and Dove Hairspray.
Second - Does the straightening you mentioned actually work? If not, do you blow-dry your hair? If so, I'd suggest that you only blow-dry when in a hurry, and even then use the cold air option. Otherwise, just let it air-dry, and then straighten it. A lot of people say that blow-drying it straight will make it better, but if your hair is already frizzy, then it's just going to make it frizzier, and create more flyaways when you straighten.
Speaking of flyaways - spray some hairspray over them, and run a fine tooth comb over the spot you sprayed while it's still wet. That way it dries in the position you want it in. As long as you don't mess with it later (i.e., running hands through it), it should be fine.

there are certain creams or mousses out there to make it shiny and not dry. i straighten my hair and sometimes i use john freida shampoo and conditioner sometimes and that makes my hair so nice. my hair is like hers too. my hair is brunette but there are shampoos by john freida for her color too.

I always wear my hair in a half ponytail because it's so thick. I've tried putting a hairband on, but from the side, my hair is so thick it looks like it's a wig. Yes Thinning is bad..no one wants to have "thinning" hair. But if you go to a good salon they can texturize your hair so it lays more consistent and has style. Layers are sort of nice because they give movement to the hair and if done correctly it does not take Length of your perimeter of your hair. Also adding some Carmel highlights ( NO BLONDS FOR ASIAN) will give your hair a different look. I am also Asian with THICK Horse hair, so I know what you are going through. You can't walk into a salon saying you want change but no layers and no "thinning"...all they can do then is make it shorter. So try something new...be daring, and go somewhere good to have it done. I like Carmel highlights in my hair, because when I do want to pull it up, it gives it a different look. Good luck

If your hair is as thick as it sounds, I'd grow it out and get some intense layers put in. Trust me, you'll have so many girls envying your luscious locks!
Don't go for the emo cut, doesn't look good on anyone. If you want an edgier hair style, simply style it differently. There are so many different styles you'll be able to work with but if you cut your hair in an emo fashion, you'll be very limited to what you can do with it.
You may want to ask your stylist how to play with your hair to give it an edgier look, there's sooo much you can do.

All you have to do is go to the barber shop and get it thinned or layered. They only cut about a inch off and they make it soft and thin and it also evens out your hair so it can grow longer.
If you go to a hair salon you can get your hair thinned so it won't be as thick.

I have thick, curly hair and it's in layers. You can't really see the layers like you can on someone with straight hair. Go to a hair stylist that knows how to work with curly hair. Not all stylists handle it well. I'm fortunate to have found someone who can.

I have frizzy and very curly hair im black and puerto rican so i got that mixed hair if you are just going to use a straightener i would suggest the kqc ( my hair stylist use to use the chi but now she uses this and it works miracles), to get the best result i would suggest you use a hair dryer and a flat iron, if you are going to use both i would suggest for a hair dryer to look at my blog and it gives you some tips and ideas but there is a website to the right of the page and it is a direct link to folica which has everything you could possibly need to know about hair dryer and straighteners, and for a straightener if you are using both to get the corrioliss it cost about $100-150 but if you go to ebay you can get it for about $35 i hope this helps...

i'm of mixed descent, too. I like the Tigi Bead Head products. The Control Freak Shampoo and Conditioner are really awesome when I want to go straight. The Frizz control (it's like gel) works great if I want to go straight or curly. And if I want mega control on my curls, I use the Power trip hair gel. The great thing about these products is that they aren't just sold in salons anymore; I can buy them at Target.

Ive always wanted to try getting an emo haircut and have just now started letting it grow long but everyone tells me my hair is too thick to grow out.. which it really is quite thick i cna lift up a layer and it still looks thicker than my friends hair and im afraid bc of this ill never be able to do anything good with it?
If your hair is as thick as it sounds, I'd grow it out and get some intense layers put in. Trust me, you'll have so many girls envying your luscious locks!
Don't go for the emo cut, doesn't look good on anyone. If you want an edgier hair style, simply style it differently. There are so many different styles you'll be able to work with but if you cut your hair in an emo fashion, you'll be very limited to what you can do with it.
You may want to ask your stylist how to play with your hair to give it an edgier look, there's sooo much you can do.

All you have to do is go to the barber shop and get it thinned or layered. They only cut about a inch off and they make it soft and thin and it also evens out your hair so it can grow longer.
If you go to a hair salon you can get your hair thinned so it won't be as thick.

I know what you mean, just ask to get it "thinned out" next time you get it cut. That's what they did to me. My head felt sooo much lighter! Thick hair is great! Grow it out and if you want it short, donate it.

Get it thined with sheers. Any stylist can do it with a razor its cute, and inexpensive.
If your hair is straight, get it layered. If it's wavy or curly, get it thinned. If this doesn't work, I guess you just got to be happy with what God gave you. If you don't believe in God, I don't know what to tell you.
I have thick, curly hair and it's in layers. You can't really see the layers like you can on someone with straight hair. Go to a hair stylist that knows how to work with curly hair. Not all stylists handle it well. I'm fortunate to have found someone who can.
Straighten then thin? You'll need to straighten it for emo hair anyway, but you could pull of a justin timberlake look

I have frizzy and very curly hair im black and puerto rican so i got that mixed hair if you are just going to use a straightener i would suggest the kqc ( my hair stylist use to use the chi but now she uses this and it works miracles), to get the best result i would suggest you use a hair dryer and a flat iron, if you are going to use both i would suggest for a hair dryer to look at my blog and it gives you some tips and ideas but there is a website to the right of the page and it is a direct link to folica which has everything you could possibly need to know about hair dryer and straighteners, and for a straightener if you are using both to get the corrioliss it cost about $100-150 but if you go to ebay you can get it for about $35 i hope this helps...

Thick hair is like what mexican girls have where its alot of hair lol. dont know how to explain But in the picture it looks like the girl has medium hair. Tthin hair is not where its skinny its just no heavy very light weight hair.. I would say your hair is inbetween thick %26amp; thin. SO its called medium.
Some people can have "coarser" hair than other people. Have you ever pet a cat and felt how soft it's fur is; then pet a short-haired dog and felt how rough it's coat was? The softer the hair feels to the touch, usually the hair is thinner. I have thick hair because I'm Japanese and naturally have black hair. My boyfriend has blonde hair which is much finer than mine. Thin hair is easier to break, and can be brittle, but it is a lot softer than thick hair. Also, thick hair can be in reference to pubic hair which does tend to be a little thicker than headhair.
I'm not so sure but i think it has to do with health... I'm not 100% sure so yeah, but keep that in mind, i've noticed a difference in my hair from eating healthy to unhealthy.
It is the amount of volume (poof) it has. There is no real difference in the width the an idividual hair strand. I have seen people with really thick hair (dry) but when wet you can actually see the skull. Thick hair just has more volume (fills in more space) then the same amount of thin hair does.
My hair has a natural wave to it. When I use a diffuser, it becomes really wavy. I love wearing it au naturale sometimes, and I love it straight sometimes but regardless of how I choose to style it, 90% of the time it gets frizzy which I HATE!! Can someone recommend a good styling technique or terrific products that will really zap the frizz?? I've tried alot of the products that sell at the drugstores and Walmart, but have yet to find one that impresses me. Thanks!

I think your best bet would be to go to a hairdresser and have your hair thinned and or layered.You could also use a good conditioner.Good luck with it.
im a thick gurl, i have dark hair, dark eyes, full lips, dark skin...im 1/3 or so cherokee indian and the rest white...i am thick but its mostly in my hips, thighs, and places like that..and a lil around the stomach too...i dont know if there is a guy out there who likes that...i hope u can help me out...and let me know if some guys like to dance with thick gurls too....please... and if u want to contact me to help me

Prologue
Before stepping into the shower, comb your hair lightly with a wide-toothed comb to untangle knots. This aligns the strands and prevents your getting out of the shower with a lot of knots. Begin at the ends and slowly work your way up. Never try to rip through tangles from top to bottom. You'll end up with a clump of hair on your comb that could have been avoided if only you'd had some patience!
Water
The temperature of the water you use while washing your hair should ideally not be warmer than room temperature. In fact, the best thing would be to use the lowest temperature you can bear. Too cold for you? Well, hair is not sensitive, so you could at least bend over and give the lower part of your hair a final rinse with cold water.
Why cold water?
Because cold water helps the hair scales lie down flat, making them stronger. On the other hand warm water opens the hair scales not only causing more frizz but also making the hair shaft weaker and more vulnerable. In addition, the scalp secretes certain oils that are good for the hair. These oils get dissolved in warm water, causing further dryness. Cold water does not dissolve the natural oils. So make the healthy-hair choice and go in for cold water! Brrrrr閿熸枻鎷?
Shampooing your hair閿?
Start washing your hair at the scalp, because that's where grease accumulates. Gently massage the shampoo into your hair with your fingertips. It is a good idea to dilute the shampoo in a little water in a mug and then massage it on your scalp. This way the shampoo is even gentler on the hair.
- While applying shampoo to your locks, leave them hanging down instead of piling them on top of your head as though you're posing for a shampoo commercial. Piling up your hair only leads to more tangles. Let it hang naturally so the lather works its way from the root to the ends.
- Try not to churn your hair too much. Work the shampoo gently so the strands don't get untangled and result in unbearable knots. If you have long hair, apply shampoo to your scalp, divide it into sections, and massage each section gently with the shampoo from roots to ends.
Go gentle while rinsing
- The best way to wash out shampoo is to keep combing it with your wide toothed comb while rinsing it out under the shower. This helps in the de-tangling process and also helps the shampoo to rinse out better. While you rinse your hair, do not rub it harshly. Hair is at its most fragile state when it's being rinsed. The correct way is to just simply let water run down your hair.
- Remember, it's best to rinse hair under running water. Dunking it in a tub is not so effective as residue may still remain. You have to make sure you've rinsed out all the shampoo. Once you are fairly certain it's all gone, stay under the flow of water for another half minute or so, to be doubly sure. Wrap your hair in a soft,absorbent towel - and voila! You're done!
Most of the time your hair is natural,if it's fallen out already maybe some Rogaine or other hair growth product will work for you.

*How to Tame Frizzy Hair Quickly*
Here's how to deal with frizzy hair.
Steps
1.Wash your hair, and make sure to use a conditioner. Conditioners and shampoos made for frizzy hair don't seem to work that much better than regular shampoos.
2.Applying a leave in conditioner will often help tame your frizz, without weighing it down too much or leaving it feeling greasy. Some suggested leave in conditioners: Aveda Brilliant Damage Control or Aussie Hair Insurance. Similar, and often cheaper products, are sprays made to control synthetic or natural extension or braids. Some examples are Control Wing 3 in OneFormula, or Mane 'n Tail Braid Sheen Spray. Evenly distribute through hair.
3.Apply a styling product, depending what you want to do with your hair. If you want to air dry your hair, then a light gel, mousse, or pomade will work. Don't use too much - too much gel leaves your hair stiff, too much mousse leaves your hair dry and crunchy, and too much pomade leaves your hair oily. A great product for air drying your hair is Aveda Brilliant Pomades- they come with a humectant for letting your hair dry curly, or anti-humectant if you want your hair to hang straight. Aveda Phomollient styling foam is good for letting your hair dry curly as well (its a mousse), but only if your hair is not very dry.
4.If you're going to blow dry your hair and you want it curly, use a diffuser on the end of your blowdryer. Flip your head over and scruch your hair, but not too much. Dry until your hair is almost dry, and then let air dry the last bit. This prevents frizziness. Use a mousse or pomade for this.
5.If you want to blow dry your hair and you want it straight, use a product that helps with this - Avedea Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade is a good one for this. Use a big round brush and blow dry your hair in sections, following the brush down through your hair. Don't use a diffuser attachement on your hair dryer for this. If you have frizzy hair, this usually makes your hair even more frizzy, so its best to always follow up by flat ironing your hair, and then locking it in with a spray shine. No need to buy the expensive spray shines; the cheap ones for ethnic hair that come in the huge bottles are just as effective as the expensive brands.
6.If you'd like to style your hair, it's best to use a product that give you a little hold. A styling lotion is great for this, because it give you light hold without making your hair stiff or dry. Two great ones: Aveda Brilliant Universal Styling Creme, and (aweseome for hot rollers) Isoplus Hot Hot Hot Curler Roller Set Lotion. You could also use a light gel spray for this step as well. Curl your hair in any way you like - if you are using hot rollers wait for them to cool before removing so that the curls will set. Sometimes, when just curling the ends of your hair, you may want to flat iron the top part of your hair to completely remove any frizz from the sections not curled. When finished, set with a hair spray or spray gel.
Tips
璺疘f you're in a hurry and don't have time to do anything to your hair after the shower, you can often let your hair partially air dry, and then put it up in a bun. After an hour or two your hair will be mostly dry, and will have dried into some fairly frizz free waves.
璺疘f you are shopping in a store that has tester bottles of lotion and notice your hair is frizzy, get a squirt of the tester lotion and apply it to your hands and hair.
璺疘f you have gel, but you're in a hurry and have a minimum of 30 minutes in the car: Use gel in your hair and if you want, scrunch or squeeze your hair with your towel (a teeshirt works as well).
璺疘f you have some time to lounge around, a great way to air dry your hair is to lay with your head over the edge of a bed- that way it allows air to reach all layers of your hair evenly.
璺疘ts a good idea to deep condition your hair at least once a week- a lot of frizz comes from damage to your hair.
璺疐ind a good hairdresser than understands your hair. He or she can help you find a haircut that will flatter your face, and help to tame frizz. Remember to be realistic, however, dont get a haircut that requires a lot of maintence if you like to throw your hair in a ponytail most of the time.
璺疘f you're completely out of product, you can use a little bit of your conditioner as a leave in conditioner to help you tame your hair. Don't do this too often though, it will eventually leave your hair with a "film" that weights is down and makes it dull.
璺疭ome good gels are Aveda Phomollient, which is a styling foam that many people like, L'Oreal Crystal Wax, which is a gel that hardens on hair, which some people don't like, and Herbal Essences carries lots of good gels.
Warnings
璺疍on't use too much product - it will leave your hair looking oily or wet.
璺疢ake sure you evenly distribute any product you use - otherwise you could end up with patches that vary from oily to frizzy. A good way to do this is to always apply product to wet hair when possible - then roll your hair between your hands to evenly distribute, and then finally comb through.
璺痵ome products that don't work very well for some: Alberta VO5 Smoothing Souffle, Pro Vitamin Intensives Curl Therapy, and Loreal Vive Smooth Intense Anti -Frizz Serum.
I have my thick hair thinned when I get it cut. I also use Pantene Smooth and Silky Shampoo to help tame the frizzyness. I think it helps.
So is mine. This time of year there isn't much you CAN do. Just add some frizz-ease sirum to your wet hair directly out of the shower. smooth it out into a nice ponytail. Finger comb your hair into nice thick curls (keeps it from turning to frizz) and then just pin the finger curls around your ponytail. It keeps the frizz away, looks seriously classy, and best off, on hot days like these, the hair is out of your face. Good luck with that. :)
For cheap - get products that work on frizz. Some of my favorites are Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine system, or the Matrix brand (I believe it's Sleek.Look or something like that). Use both shampoo and conditioner, and invest in a good leave in conditioner. Maybe some anti-frizz serums like Frizz Eaze or any other anti-frizz cream - apply that when your hair is damp. Then style as usual. If you're straightening - invest in a really good straightener like a Chi - it'll be worth it in the long run.
For more expensive options - there's a treatment called Japanese Silk treatment, or something to that effect. It's kind of hard to find, and can be expensive, but is permanent for 6 months and leaves your hair thinner and sleeker.
I have the same problem, and I use the John Freida Frizz-Ease hair serum. It works for me, and it smells nice too.

moisturize, moisturize. recently at a salon a hairdresser used a large amount of leave-in-conditioner and silk therapy by biosilk on my hair. once it dried it was shiny and soft.
